Nitrogen is a gas that some automotive-service outlets and parts suppliers are promoting as a superior alternative to common compressed air typically used to inflate tire


Part of its appeal is that auto-racing teams, the aviation industry, the military and other groups bent on precision have for years used purified nitrogen to fill tires because it is more stable and produces more consistent inflation pressure, even during severe temperature changes, than compressed air.
