Two Fords And A Chevy Camero

A Ford F-150 Hesitates, A Ford Windstar ABS Light and A Chevy Camero Steering Problem.

We have a Ford F-150 with a bit of a strange problem, A Ford Windstar with an ABS light coming on and a Chevy Camaro that gets hard to steer.

Question: Strange Ford F-150 Problem

After my vehicle warms up and I am driving fairly often the auto theft light comes on, mostly when doing 80 plus kph. The vehicle, 2002 Ford F-150 4x4 automatic V-8, then wants to cut out (stall) or hesitate. Had the vehicle at Ford Dealer but nothing shows up on the scan.

Answer:

This can be a hard problem to track down. If you can duplicate the problem every time then have a technician at the Ford Dealer ride with you with his scan tool connected to the vehicle. Now when the problem shows up he will have a better chance of seeing what's going on when the problem appears.

At this point all I can say is that I think you probably have a wiring problem, possibly in the ignition switch.

Question: Ford Windstar ABS Light

I have a question; I have a 1995 Ford Windstar. It is in A-one shape and runs like a top. Shortly after I start up the ABS brake light comes on and stays on. What need I do to check this out? Include all the possibilities.

Thank you,

CAH

Answer:

Well, there are about 25 possible reasons the ABS light will come on. The best thing to do is have your Ford Dealer connect his scan tool to access the Diagnostic Trouble Codes to see what they are. When a 1995 or 1996 Ford Windstar comes in with an ABS complaint the technician is required to call Ford with test results to get the proper repair instructions.

Question: Chevy Camaro P/S Problem

Hi Vince Greets from Austria/Europe! I have a 2000 Chevy Camaro 3.8 liter V-6. The Problem is the power steering. When the weather gets hot in summer and the car has driven for a period of time, the steering becomes hard/tight when I turn, especially when I try to park. I've changed the steering pump but with the new one it still is hard to turn and makes noises. The oil gets very hot.

Thanks for help,

Steve Huber

Answer:

Hi Steve, I know you said you put a new (rebuilt?) power steering pump in so I have to question if it is good or not. GM developed a special Power Steering System Tester to accurately diagnose their P/S problems so you may want to consider going to your GM dealer and letting them hook you up. If you are sure the P/S pump is good then you probably have a bad P/S rack. It is not at all uncommon for them to go bad.
