Plymouth Voyager & Honda AccordA 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager And A 1999 Honda AccordA Plymouth Grand Voyager that's leaking coolant and a Honda Accord with a fluctuating idle and stalling problem.
Question: 1997 Plymouth Grand VoyagerI have a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3 liter V-6 engine with an automatic transmission. Here is my question. My van is getting hot but the gauge in the van does not read hot. It is dripping antifreeze from the bottom when it gets hot. Is something plugged and why doesn't my gauge tell me it is hot? Thanks for your help! Tess Theros P.S. Can a woman fix it? I need to do the work myself!!!! Answer: I have never discounted a persons ability to do maintenance or repairs on a vehicle simply because they have breasts. It is their knowledge, ability and common sense that determines whether a person can do a particular job The first thing we have to do is determine where the leak is coming from. The most likely possibility is the water pump. What you do is get a small mirror and look under the neck of the water pump at the weep hole. This particular picture is a Ford water pump but they are all the same. You can buy an Inspection Mirror fairly cheap from Amazon.com. If it is the water pump then you are in luck, this engine has one of the easiest water pumps to replace. Go to your local Public Library and look in the Chilton's or MOTORS manuals, or you can purchase your own, and read the procedure for replacing the water pump. If you feel you are up to the challenge then by all means, go for it! You'll need some basic tools but if you are going to do more of your own work then it would be a good investment to purchase some. I wrote a two part article on Tools... that, I think, you will find informative. When you are ready to buy you can get what you need from The Auto Repair Shopping Center. Question: 1999 Honda AccordHi Vincent, I have an idling problem with my 1999 Honda Accord where it fluctuates and cuts out when I come to a stop with the car at traffic lights etc. It begins soon as my engine management light on the dashboard lights up, then the idling starts fluctuating and cutting off. This problem started off last year when I had the car converted to gas and since then its not gone away. I been done to the gas installer and a number of expert mechanics, but no one seems to no what's wrong with it. The idling problem is worse on gas than it is on petrol. I've seen your response about a similar problem, but I don't know how to chance anything. Can you tell me were your located or if you know any places where I can come down and get the problem fixed. I'm located in Birmingham. Rouhel Answer: Okay Rouhel, you got me. I'm assuming that you are in Birmingham, England and not in any of the U.S. Birmingham's. I'm located in Rochester, MN U.S.A. and I don't believe it's very convenient for you to get to my shop. In addition I am not familiar with any of the aftermarket LP Gas (I'm assuming this is what it is) conversion kits. I just got an e-mail from a friend of mine in Great Britain telling me of the price of petrol so I can sympathize with you. Unfortunately I do not know anyone in Great Britain that can help you either. Sorry I have to let you down.
