Easily boost your Infiniti G35 or G37 coupe to 500+ horsepower with readily-available aftermarket forced induction and suspension modifications.

The Infiniti G coupe is one of the most popular luxury sports cars in the United States. The G35 comes with 298 base horsepower in the six-speed manual model. Infiniti bumped up the horsepower with the release of the new 2008 G37 coupe providing drivers with 330 base horsepower. The wide availability of aftermarket modifications allows speed lovers to easily boost the car to 500 or more horsepower to the wheels.

Forced Induction

One of the best ways to see the most dramatic increase in horsepower is to take a naturally aspirated engine and add a method of forced induction. The easiest way to do this is through the use of nitrous oxide (NOS); however this option isn’t always the safest for the engine. Two other popular options are adding either an aftermarket turbo setup or an aftermarket supercharger.

One of the big names in aftermarket forced induction options for the Infiniti G coupe is the Stillen supercharger. The Stillen supercharger comes in four stages, each offering a different power ratio. The Stillen is popular because the company will warranty the engine for a period of 3 years or 36,000 miles if the Stillen stage two supercharger is installed. For the power-hungry, the stage two simply will not suffice.

Other popular options allowing significantly more horsepower than the Stillen are the Vortech supercharger, the APS twin turbo, and a new to the market PowerLab single turbo. One company has reached over 900 horsepower on an Infiniti G coupe with the PowerLab kit; a truly phenomenal number.

Suspension Modifications

Once the horsepower issue has been addressed, car fanatics often look at upgrading the suspension. With a series of aftermarket suspension modifications, the newly boosted G coupe will hug corners and provide the owner with a truly exceptional driving experience.

Lowering springs or coilovers are typically the first suspension modification to be made. The springs and coilovers both allow the car to maintain a lower profile; drop rates vary and coilovers provide the owner with many more customization options. Once the car has been lowered with new springs, the owner usually finds that camber kits are needed in order to prevent serious negative camber issues. Camber kits will greatly increase the life of the tires.

Sway bars are another popular suspension mod. Sway bars can adjust the amount of body roll that the car experiences in corners. Less body roll directly equates to more efficient cornering. Sway bars are a necessity for drifting the G or participating in HPDE and time attack races.

Forced induction can be costly but horsepower gains are dramatic. Suspension mods can run from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, however the effect on the car’s handling are immediately noticed. Whether you plan to take your Infiniti G35 or G37 to the racetrack, drift track or drag strip, installing aftermarket modifications are sure to create an exciting driving experience.
