Honda Accord & Jeep Grand CherokeeA 1997 Honda Accord and a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee LaredoA Honda Accord looking for an ABS Hydraulic Control Unit, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with a miss-fire.
Question: 1997 Honda AccordHi, I do have a 1997 Honda Accord EX wagon. these are not to common, My cars ABS system dash light comes on and off now it is on continuously. I do believe that the modulator unit is at fault. Is there any thing that can be done to cure this problem? I have flushed the system out with new Honda brake fluid in the ABS reservoir and the whole brake system. I do see that this part new is over $1,000.00. I do see remanufactured units listed for over $600.00. Are there rebuild kits available for this unit? I do like this car. Thank you, Mr. James Stutts Answer: If you are sure it's the Hydraulic Control Assembly, then you only have 3 options; replace it with a new one, replace it with a remanufactured one or replace it with a used one. I don't know of anyone who has a rebuild kit for this unit. The 1995, 1996 and 1997 Honda Accords all used the same unit so you can probably find one in a junkyard for a lot less than a remanufactured unit. Question: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee LaredoHi Vince, Are you still answering questions about Jeep Grand Cherokees? I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 5.2 liter V-8. I have been having misfires and have already tried replacing the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The misfires remained after I did this, so I thought I would try and check the fuel injectors to see if one is clogged or blocked. What I would like to ask you is where is the fuel pressure relief in my vehicle? I need to first release the pressure in the fuel system before I remove the injectors, correct? Thanks, TB Answer: Okay, TB, here is the fuel pressure release procedure straight out of the factory Jeep Repair Manual. WARNING: Because the fuel system is under constant fuel pressure, the pressure must be released before servicing any fuel system component. This does not apply to throttle body removal.FUEL SYSTEM RELEASE PROCEDURE
This step is for engines WITHOUT a fuel pressure test port.
With fuel pressure relieved the fuel system can now be opened for required work. Continue to use caution, fuel leakage is still possible. WARNING: Do not allow fuel to spill onto the engine intake or exhaust manifolds. Place shop towels under and around the pressure port to absorb fuel when the pressure is released from the fuel rail. Wear proper eye protection when releasing fuel system pessure.
