This time around we have a Dodge with "3 wheel drive, a loose parking brake and a serpentine belt replacement.

Question: Ford Escort Parking Brake

Vincent: Are the rear brakes on my 1997 Ford Escort self adjusting and if so, how do they adjust?

Larry

Answer:

Yes, it is adjustable. You have to remove the center console to make the adjustment. After you have the console out you will see the adjusting nut. To make the adjustment...

  • Put the vehicle in reverse and apply the parking brake several times while in motion.
  • Turn the parking brake control adjustment nut until the parking brake control stroke is five to seven notches when pulled with the force shown.
  • Verify that the rear brakes do not drag.

Question: Dodge 2500 4WD Problem

I have a 1995 Dodge 2500 4WD and when I put it in 4WD, the right front wheel does not seem to have power. Is there some sort of engagement mechanism that needs to be replaced?

Tom

Answer:

The locking hub assembly for that wheel is replaceable. If you're certain that wheel is not engaging then you probably have a broken hub.

Question: Ford Aerostar Fan Belt

The reason the I am writing, Is to enquire on the steps needed to replace the fan belt on a 1995 Ford Aerostar 4.0 with A/C 198,000 miles.

Thanks for any advice that you can give to me.

Dennis

Answer:

It's easy Dennis. Put a wrench on the front of the tensioner pulley and turn it counterclockwise. Slip the old serpentine drive belt off and slip the new one on. There should be a belt routing diagram under the hood but if it's gone make your own before removing the old belt. That will save you from a major Opps later on.
