2002 Chevy Malibu that no longer dings and a Nissan Pathfinder with a blower motor not working.

Question: Chevy Malibu No Longer Dings

Hi! My name is Lisa and I own a 2002 Chevy Malibu and I was wondering if my radio suddenly stops working and when I push the lever down to lock my doors it usually dings, and if it no longer dings, do you think it's a fuse? I looked in the manual and it shows me pictures of the fuse boxes and so if you look at the fuse, how do you know if the fuse is bad? I called the dealership and they want $78.00 to bring it in the door, and on a single mother income, I can't do that and I don't want to ruin my car by doing it myself, so I thought maybe if you thought it wasn't that what it might be????

Hope to hear from ya!

Lisa

Answer:

To properly check a fuse you need to use either a test light or voltmeter. On either end of the fuse is a slot for testing the fuse. Touch the test light or voltmeter, to the fuse and the light should light or indicate battery voltage, about 12.5 volts with the engine off. The radio and door locks are on separate circuits so one does not usually affect the other unless there is a wiring problem. So wither you have two different problems or a wiring problem.

Question: Nissan Pathfinder Blower Motor Not Working

1995 Nissan Pathfinder. The blower motor or switch isn't working. Won't work at any speed. Checked fuses. Would you help me? I'm 18 and have to do it myself. All information you can give me I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Christopher

Answer:

Since you don't have any blower speeds we can eliminate the blower motor resistor as the problem. That leaves the blower motor, blower motor relay, blower motor switch and the wiring as possible causes. To track this down you're going to need a wiring diagram and a test light. You can try swapping the blower motor relay with another relay of the same type to quickly see if it's a bad relay.

Other than that you're going to have to use the wiring diagram to trace the circuit from the fuse to the switch to find where the problem is. I wrote an article, Troubleshooting the Electrical System, which will help you in checking the circuit. I wish I had an easy answer for you, but on the btight side it is a fairly simple circuit to troubleshoot.
