Chevy Lumina & Jeep Cherokee1992 Chevy Lumina and a 1998 Jeep CherokeeA 1992 Chevy Lumina with an A/C and Cruise Control problem and a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with low heat output.
Question: 1992 Chevy Lumina A/C & CruiseI have a 1992 Chevy Lumina. The air conditioning and cruise control went out at the same time. What could cause this? Thanks for reading this, Donna Answer: Those two systems do not interact so I'm hard pressed to come up with a suggestion as to why both would stop working at the same time. One thing that would affect both is a vacuum problem. Even at the A/C would still work but not come out the proper vents. Air would only come out of the defroster vents. The other would be a blown CLUST fuse in the fuse box. That supplies power to the cruise control and part of the A/C system. Question: 1998 Jeep Cherokee Low HeatI have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that does not put out much heat unless it is at least 40° outside. In the morning when it is 20° to 30° I have to drive for about 10 miles before I can get even warm air. I cannot find a heater control valve, which is normally in the heater hoses. Is this hidden somewhere? I installed a new thermostat, 190°, which is what the manufacturer recommends but this has not helped. Any ideas? Answer:I would check the coolant temperature with a thermometer in the filler neck to be sure the engine coolant is reaching the proper temperature first. If it is then you probably have a problem with the blend door in the heater box. There is no heater control valve, the blend door does heat control. It is either cable or vacuum operated depending on the HVAC system installed in the vehicle. If you look under the passenger side dash, behind the glove box, you will be able to see the blend door. If it is cable operated make sure the cable moves fully and freely. Often the door will bind and bend the cable. If it is vacuum operated check for proper vacuum. Remove the vacuum motor and move the blend door by hand, making sure it moves fully open and closed and moves smoothly.
