2001 Dodge Caravan Lights

Instrument panel lighting problem

Oct 24, 2006 Vincent Ciulla

A 2001 Dodge Caravan with some burned out panel bulbs.

Question: 2001 Dodge Caravan

My lights on my dash board for my speedometer, gas gauge and temp gauge will not come on. I thought it was a fuse, checked under the hood, no fuses marked for dashboard. Think it is a bulb but do not know where to locate the bulb for this specific problem.

Can you help?

Answer:

If it is a bulb(s) that are burned out you will need to remove the instrument cluster to get to them. There are four types of instrument clusters used in that vehicle, digital, non-digital, Mechanical Transmission Range Indicator and Electronic Transmission Range Indicator.

Correct removal procedures vary so without knowing what type of cluster you have, I can't be specific on how to remove it. You can go to the Public Library and get the appropriate MOTORS Manual and look up the procedure and decide if this is something you want to do on your own or have a shop do it.
